Self Care Ideas

Only you know what serves you and your energies best, however, when we have free time it can be challenging to come up with ideas other than binge watching tv or scrolling through social media! While relaxing and watching tv CAN be beneficial, it’s best that we don’t make that a consistent habit.

Here are some self-care suggestions to get you started:

  • Do the Daily Energy Routine

  • Listen to a Podcast

  • Read or listen to a Book - local libraries often have hard copies of books, ebooks, AND audio books available!

  • Call or text someone you love

  • Spend some time journaling

  • Break out your favorite music and dance around the house

  • Take a scenic drive

  • Go for a walk in nature

  • Light a candle and observe the flickering of the light

  • Make yourself a cup of nourishing broth or tea and sip is slowly

  • Meditate or do something meditative such as color in a coloring book, cloud gazing, watching the leaves or branches in a tree dance in the wind, or tracing figure eights over and over.

  • Take a nap

  • Put together a jigsaw puzzle

  • Buy yourself some flowers - consciously observe their color variations, textures, and scents

  • Take a bath or shower

  • Cuddle with a pet

  • Do something crafty

  • Sing

  • Repeat a mantra

  • Mindful gardening

  • Write a list of things you are grateful for

  • Cook a fancy meal or eat dinner on the fancy dishes for no other reason that you deserve a fancy meal

  • Blow bubbles

  • Five senses scavenger hunt - Listen-name one thing that you hear when you listen with your ears; Look-name one thing that catches your attention when you look around; Smell-name a scent that you notice when you take a sniff with your nose; Touch-name an object that you enjoy feeling with your hands.
