A Simple Reframe for Your Week

The Energetic Weight of "Shoulds"

Have you noticed how often the women in your life use the word should? Or how often you do?

I should keep a cleaner house.

I should be doing laundry instead of sitting here.

I should be exercising.

I should eat healthier.

I should be studying.

The weight of all those expressed and unexpressed shoulds drains your energy.

Let’s reframe them.

Turn it into a Choice

Original: I should keep a cleaner house.

Reframed: I choose to prioritize my energy over a spotless house right now.

Question It

Original: I should be doing laundry instead of sitting here.

Reframed: Who decided rest isn’t productive? My body is doing important work right now.

Release the Pressure

Original: Ishould be studying.

Reframed: My brain needs a break. I’ll study when I can focus.

Add Reality and Compassion

Original: I should be doing laundry instead of sitting here.

Reframed: I’ve been going nonstop. This rest is just as important as the laundry.

Of course, there are times when we have to push through and do what we have to do for the health and well-being of ourselves and our families. But often, we need to offer ourselves compassion and see the reality of what’s happening.

Ask yourself:

What’s actually mine to carry, and what have I picked up from others?

Is this should a family script that doesn’t serve me or my loved ones in the long run?

Is this a message I want my children to learn?

Whether you’re navigating health challenges, balancing work and motherhood, caring for others, or simply feeling stretched thin - it’s okay to shift the narrative. No one is judging you but you. And if someone is judging, that says more about them than about you.

It’s time to set down the burdens others have passed on and make space for what’s true and nourishing for you.

This week, listen to your own language (and the language of others). Notice the shoulds. Awareness is the first step toward releasing them.

A Reminder: In-Person Sessions Coming Soon!

Starting in November, I'll be offering in-person Sound & Energy Healing sessions every Wednesday in Tigard (right off I-5 and Hwy 217), inside a massage clinic!

In-person sessions offer something unique compared to virtual work. You can fully disconnect from home distractions, feel the tuning fork vibrations more directly, and sink into deeper relaxation.

Introductory Offer: 25% Off In-Person Sound & Energy Healing Session Through December 31st. First come, first served.

Use code NEWLOCATION25 when booking your in-person session. You can use this discount as often as you like through the end of the year - perfect for establishing a regular Wednesday self-care routine!

Sessions are by appointment only. A 24-hour cancellation notice is required. Offer valid for in-person bookings only through December 31st. Virtual sessions remain available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and select Fridays.

Mini Practice: Calming the Triple Warmer Neurovascular Hold

  1. Place 3-Finger Notch in the “V” of your throat right above your collarbone.

  2. Lay your left hand flat across the left side of your head with your fingers flat on your temples.

  3. Take 3-5 deep, slow breaths.

  4. Change hands and repeat on the opposite side

Here’s a video of Donna’s daughter, Dondi, doing a version of the exercise.

Journal Prompt

What shoulds have I been saying to myself lately?

How can I reframe them to create choice, curiosity, compassion, or relief?

Affirmation of the Week

I am open to reframing my language to be supportive and compassionate to myself and others.
